Chi Kung

Chi Kung postures
Chi Kung is practice that nurtures & develops Chi, mindfulness, concentration, balance & power. The forms are designed to promote free & appropriate passage of Chi, working through blockages & balancing the flow. These forms can vary from one simple static position, to a 30 minute sequence of complex movements.

There are a several types of Chi Kung practices; medical, health, spiritual, martial. There are also a great many systems, probably a thousand Chi Kung ‘forms’. Some Chi Kung practices require a great deal of theoretical knowledge. There are some very old documents containing drawings of chi kung exercises. It's quite possible that chi kung is the oldest recorded exercise system.

Chi Kung can be practised alone or in a group. Sometimes people practise in a group with a view to the group developing a ‘Chi field’. This Chi field is fuelled by the whole group & is beneficial to all participating. Each player thus creates & receives the benefit.

The annals hint at extraordinary powers, ascetics, martial marvels. Down here on earth it's just pretty good for you ! Modern studies suggest that daily quiet time/meditation/stillness is profoundly beneficial, especially in an increasingly pressured world.

I teach various Chi Kung programs during the year. A weekly general practise class, easy to join, simple & effective exercises to nurture overall well being & mobility. And some specific Chi Kung's mainly on the weekends, e.g. Swimming Dragon Chi Kung & The Eight Silken Brocades Chi Kung.
